Kono
Coffee Table
This design is defined by its clarity and simplicity. Every component serves a specific purpose, leaving nothing superfluous. The result is a calm and honest object that emphasizes the raw beauty of its materials. The construction is openly visible, with the curved metal element gently embracing the wooden panels.
Kono is optimized for simple and efficient production. The aluminum parts are cut from a flat sheet and bent into a L-shape, while the plywood elements are precisely cut. The three main plywood parts slot together, creating a stable form. This straightforward approach reduces material waste and simplifies assembly, making the design both functional and sustainable.
The prototype’s success relies on its 3D-printed "metal" components, which despite their fabrication method, offered remarkable stability and functionality. This approach hints at future developments, potentially using more eco-friendly and easily processed materials.
