Ori

Contemporary Washi Light

Washi
Ori uses authentic Japanese washi paper, a material that has been crafted for centuries for writing, screens, and everyday objects. Known for its fine texture and its ability to diffuse light softly and evenly, it brings a sense of craft and calm to the lamp. The shade appears textile yet firm, giving Ori a quiet and refined presence in the room.

Form
The form is radical in its clarity and expressive in its movement. A defined body opens downward in a flowing gesture, directing the light into a concentrated beam. Despite its strong geometry the lamp feels light and suspended in space. The braided cable provides both power and support, while a second suspension balances the weight.

Technology
Inside is a linear high performance LED module mounted on a precise rail. On the left side sits the power supply that feeds the LEDs, on the right the fixing point for the second suspension. The system delivers 8000 lumens at 4000 Kelvin, producing a bright and neutral light ideal for environments such as universities or libraries. The wide shade prevents glare while creating a generous illuminated surface.

Image Generation Process

All images were generated using Viscom, Midjourney, Sora, and Google Gemini. The selection also includes some intermediate and faulty results that occurred during the process. In total, around 180 images were created to arrive at the four final visuals. The basis for the generation came from CAD screenshots. Extensive adjustments and refinements were later made in Photoshop.
