FNP Shelf Configurator
3D configurator for the FNP shelf system by Moormann
The FNP shelf system by Moormann is highly modular, but a specific configuration is hard to picture in space. I built this configurator to make that easier. It shows the shelf spatially, freely rotatable and zoomable, at true scale with real materials.
What I found most interesting was teaching the tool the rules of the system. Every module is checked against the construction logic of the FNP as it is placed. It knows whether a shelf fits a column, whether a brace carries load at that spot, whether the tension set has the three columns it needs, and where a cover panel would tip. Positions that do not work are refused with a short reason, and dependent parts like corner shelves, aluminium profiles or rivets are added on their own.
Each column can start at the floor or higher and have its own height, so staggered silhouettes come out of a single shelf. When the layout is done, the configurator produces a clean parts list with dimensions, ready to order.
