Furka

Plug-together floor lamp powered by aryo::node

White textured smart bracelet with silver accent and indicator lights.

Furka leans against the wall on two feet, with the wall taking the place of a third. Its core is a Y-shaped fork. From there, feet and stem grow by as many segments as you like, from a short lamp for a corner to one that reaches far up the wall. Because an LED strip sits on the back of the stem, Furka lights the wall in an unusual, beautiful way. Near the top the light is dense, further down it opens up like the glow of a lantern.

The exploded view on the left shows how few parts that takes. Every one of them is made for 3D printing, holds a standard 1 cm LED strip and plugs into the next with a square connector. Put together, Furka is surprisingly sturdy.

The two endcaps on the right, one flat and one rounded, show how open the system is. Parts can be swapped or combined, with room for more pieces in the future.

Even the electronics fit inside the fork. That is thanks to aryo::node, a controller I developed that is hardly bigger than its two USB-C ports. You can see it in the gallery below. Through Matter, Furka works with Apple Home, Google Home or any other smart home.

Spotted aryo::node? Yes, at just 20 × 30 mm, that’s all it takes to power Furka. The video shows one of the animations aryo::node runs on Furka, from slow colour drifts to candle or fire.
