Insulating sleeve for the IKEA 365+ glass container
Whether a lasagna or potato gratin comes out of the oven or the microwave, the IKEA 365+ glass container is far too hot to hold with bare hands. Once the dish is out, you set it into the sleeve, which insulates the hot glass so you can carry it to the table and start eating without reaching for oven mitts or a tray.
The 365+ range has a very distinctive look, and I didn’t want the sleeve to change it. Its shape follows the container closely and keeps the silhouette intact, so it looks like an addition IKEA could have made itself rather than a separate product.
I made all visualizations in KeyShot and used them early on to try out different materials, textures and animations. Seeing the sleeve in different colors and under different lighting made it much easier to judge the overall impression before settling on details.
