AeroDial

AeroDial

Lightweight repairable bike hand pump

Emilia Hattesen and I developed AeroDial in our fifth semester of technical design, a hand pump meant for daily bike commutes as well as longer bikepacking trips. Along with the renderings we built a prototype, and the project has since made it into the jury round of the German Ecodesign Award 2026.

Nothing on AeroDial is glued. Every part is screwed together, so you can open the pump and swap anything that wears out, including the O-rings and the fabric loop, instead of replacing the whole thing. All components come from European suppliers, and manufacturing takes place in Germany.

Because the pump works on both the push and the pull stroke, the fabric loop gives your hand something to pull against, and when you’re riding, the same loop lets you hang the pump from a backpack. To switch between Schrader and Presta valves, you turn the dial on the pump head.
