Alto
Aluminum tealight holder for Render Weekly

Alto started with a Render Weekly brief built around an ordinary tealight. My answer is a matte aluminum dish that holds the candle slightly raised, so a thin line of shadow forms underneath and the light seems to hover just above the surface.
I didn’t want to hide the tealight’s metal cup, so it stays in view and becomes part of the object. Because the surface of the dish has a fine matte texture, the flame shows up on it as a soft glow rather than a sharp reflection.
