Cube
Small Light Cube

Cube is a small light with a perforated surface and a programmable LED matrix inside. The holes break the light up into a pattern of dots and shadows, and the matrix can switch between subtle and bold lighting scenes.
The housing is 3D printed from two kinds of PLA, with semi-transparent parts that diffuse the light softly and opaque ones that keep the contrast sharp where it’s needed. Cube is powered via USB-C, and a small controller inside runs the light scenes.
Cube is a prototype for now, but I can picture it going further. For a series version I’d mill the housing from aluminum for tighter tolerances and a better feel, or switch to injection molding for larger quantities, without changing the design.
